so what will crossflashing do for the liteon rebranded memorex?
From the sounds of it it seems you don't care too much for lite on.If you use these forums you will not have to face that...

jm is their resident champion, I am slightly biased against them, a lot of geeks
use them to scan but won't burn with them. It's old drives that we all don't care for, old is anything over a year or so. Now crossbranded oem memorex
can be much worse( poor firmware support?) YMMV
You will have to tell us what the crossflash didComment

so you replace your drives every year then? how will the mergers of benq & lite on and nec & sony affect this?If you use these forums you will not have to face that...

I try to wear them out in a year or two(get my money's worth)
you have to understand that new drives are better than old ones, your new
liteon is improved over the memorex, even tho it(new one) might not have mature firmware yet!
I expect benq/liteon and sony/nec to continue to improve slightly. The real problem will be getting good burns on crappy mass produced media.Comment

Here are some scans of the same disc at different speeds, you said with these newer lite ons, that people like to scan faster. Just for informational purposes. If you use these forums you will not have to face that...

what about trying to use the firmware for sowh-812s seeing that is what this drive really is and avoiding the poorly supported memorex firmware? If you use these forums you will not have to face that...

looking i realize that cd-dvd speed has issues using the 812s@832s from your link above as to where i start. maybe it would be better to just use the 812s firmware, my drives did not make it today so looks like monday for sure.If you use these forums you will not have to face that...
