MCC 003 MIT Verbatims 8X -Gross Dye failure





Here is a gross dye failure on a MIT Verbatim 8X DVD+r. I was doing a double burn and this disc was done in the NEC 3550. Total time for 4X and verification is usually 22 minutes. I aborted the verification at 32 minutes in total time!

The other disc was fine with a quick scan in the LG 4163.

Quality is definately slipping at Verbatim!!!

You've just proved the inferiority of verification, a quick scan like I mentioned earlier would have revealed the problem in a minute or so.

Here's to my earlier statement about BenQ not being up front about Qsuite 1.0 for the Dq60.... I sent an email asking them about it, gave them the link to their page, and let it be at that.
Their answer....."you can use any software with your drive you don't have to use the Qsuite." I say nice answer but try again! Probably want you to believe it is a real BenQ.

Now I think I have done my final test burn with the Memorex/liteon/812S@832S It seems to be doing better, probably that "learning" ability these drives have, but not good enough to keep. It was a fun Exercise.

That pickyitis will get you every time, I just did a first, I threw away a TYG02
last night, it was a bad burn, sooner or later I knew I would have one.
Quick scanning every burn with this last batch till I feel safe with them.

If I understand correctly your question, to do quick scan, you must first set global options of cd-dvd speed.

There are two settings you should set: how many measure points, and how large each point should be.

My suggestion to a mean scan is as in picture (20 measure points 5 MB each), but you can change these values as you like.

Alright so i'm starting to fire off the nec a bit here's some scans of some 3rd rate media, it doesn't like it very well. the create disc was an error on my part as this media is only 8x and i had it set to 12x, but let it run for the sake of learning.
