Getting this new firmware settled in (SB05) on the Samsung.
Opened new 50 pack of Verbatim DVD+R, hope it's all this good. (Had a few spindles that weren't impressive for Verbatim.)
Burn @8x with SH-S182D.Attached Files

DL Verbatim (Made in Singapore)
Burnt at 4X on the NEC 3550 (firmware 1Y6). ISO created by RI4M. Burned and verified with ImgBurn.
ImgBurn log: ImgBurn(15).log
DVDInfoPro scan from ImgBurn with verification:
Check out the PIF spikes in the 2nd layer when scanned at 8X! CD/DVD scan at 8X:
1st half of CD/DVD scan at 5X:
Complete CD/DVD scan at 5X:
Still some improvements are needed in the 2nd half burning at this speed. It is awful compared to the burn here at 2.4X
2 burns done with the NEC and it looks like the 2.4X speed is the better speed!
Next DL burn will be done with the LG GSA 4163b. This way I can compare the 2 burners.Gary D
