your drive/firmware looks like it is learning how to burn that mid better, even
up to 8x speed

on your next movie burn take a disk from deeper in the spindle(say 10 disks further down), burn at 8x and then scan, looking more and more like you ran
into a few bad disks in the same part of the spindle, I have seen this with
several batches of verbatim and even taiyo yuden

for some reason the +r verbatim seem to burn better

Getting this new firmware settled in (SB05) on the Samsung.

Opened new 50 pack of Verbatim DVD+R, hope it's all this good. (Had a few spindles that weren't impressive for Verbatim.)

Burn @8x with SH-S182D.

Still some improvements are needed in the 2nd half burning at this speed. It is awful compared to the burn here at 2.4X

2 burns done with the NEC and it looks like the 2.4X speed is the better speed!

Next DL burn will be done with the LG GSA 4163b. This way I can compare the 2 burners.

Just running a test Burn @ 6x same disk at dif. scan speeds. Look like this drive does not really care what speed it scans.
