You can use DVD Decryter and rip in .ISO Mode and burn with IMGburn from a .ISO file.

Well I tried decryptor as shown above and got an iso error then i tried nero again and got an error i saved the error report here it is.If anyone can tell me what it means it would be greatly appreciated thanks!

according to LuK, they should have fixed it recently, anything from late 2005 or early 2006 should be ok.
anything like 2001 would be the "kiss of death" to nero

what's really complicated is the old drivers, only hose the aspi bus but don't hose the spti one, that's why nero 6.6.14 and imgburn can work better.
the newer/bad sonic (2004 or 2005) hose the spti bus and screw up the spti
burn programs.

I suppose it is a drive problem,the thing is i just got this comp off a friend for free and its a sony viao, circa 2002 so the drive is probably worn out.Although I havent tried burning non backup dvds yet.

also update your nero to version 6.6.0.18
I have one question for you after you used roxizap did you restart your computer if so did roxio try to reinstall itself

I never had roxio at all just nero.I just tried to burn a movie from a regular dvd (not a backup) and it failed. Also it will not let me even burn music files or wmv files to cd either. On the other hand my cd rw drive works fine with nero so I would think my dvd rw drive needs to be replaced.
