Power Calibration Area Error for My Yuden's Only

I finally took the plunge and ordered some YUDEN000-T02-00 's from SMS.

I tried them on my Lite-ON LH-18A1P. About half of them give me this error.

I have been able to back-up to Verbs MCC004 and Sony D21 with still no problems.

I have searched on this subject and the only logical response came from LUK that maybe my drive does not like the media.

So I went for broke and reinstalled my failing Lite-On SHW-160P6S and have had no power errors.

My LH-18A1P is fairly new (Christmas Present) and I would like to fix the problem and use the new one. I also enjoy the new media.

    I have attached more info.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank You

try reflashing the firmware by the book

safe mode, power connector by itself
    standalone master

then test a burn same way in regular mode

Need to reinstall the LH today to reflash.

          I will get back today.

Just my luck to be unusual. I have been told if I did not have bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all. Lets see if we can buck that trend.

          Thanks Chewy

I meant after you received the drive? or did it come with that firmware?

is your other drive burning the ty's good??

that would tell us if they were bad or not??

Yes I flashed it the same way that you described with the exception of direct power. I have the set uo of the 3 pigtail. One for HDD, one for DVD-Rom, and one for The writer. Seems like it was GLOA originally.

It only has problems with Yuden, not anything else.

The 160P6S burns them fine. Its just a pain to get it to eject on any media.

Maybe re-flash will help. Will try.

leave the rom drive disconnected for the flash and the test after upgrade

                and knock on wood

                  OK Done

No Error this time. I will watch it though.

Not impressed with first burn, but second looked better.

Is it pooping out just before 3GB?

Am I going to have to ditch the ROM drive from now on?

                  Thanks again for your help

unusual for ty media to be that inconsistent, I would suspect power issues

funny, power supply is 500 watt bought 2 months ago.
Could it be this drive with the power issue?
The other drive does not have that problem

newer drives can take more power

what is the make model of your 500 watt(claimed)?

download everest and post the voltage values?

I always put my dvd burner on the connector closest to the power supply with nothing else connected
