Of course! I know the bit you mean now. Now you mention it, they do have a hint of slapstick in them .... but to be totally honest, they completely passed me by when I watched it. I still found it a powerful movie that makes you think, and little touches like these didn't detract from that, in my opinion.

You can't compare it to something like Loves Labours Lost, which is really really cheesy and has slapstick humour all the way through, we're talking about clowns pulling rubber chickens out of their jackets here.

          Some movies I like:

          The Matrix

          Fight Club

          Contact

          Being John Malkovich

          Bridget Jones's Diary

A Clockwork Orange (found it funny too, it never gets really serious. I think of it as black humor (like Fargo))

          Fargo

Eyes wide shut (I like the man that sells costumes and masks, good acting)

          Toy Story 1&2 (very entertaining)

True Romance (best Tarantino, I like the simple concept: "love")

Snatch (gets better every time u see it)

          Spoorloos (ending is ...)

About "Dancer in the dark": good film, strong acting but I don't like the camera motion, it hurts my eyes too much. The movie gets more interesting in the second half, I found the first half a bit slow (boring).

Some days ago I saw "Return to paradise". VERY GOOD !!

Hm... ok if I think of some other movies I'll tell.

Didn't someone here recommend Eyes Wide Shut to me? I've seen it now. Wow!

Erm, it's in 4:3 though - is that right, or is that my dvd player playing up and getting the aspect ratio wrong?

Have only seen it once so far, but, wow, pretty cool. I particularly like the music in the masked ritual scene, and the sets in this scene and the party scene at the beginning were particularly cool too I thought. A rich kid games story, Cruel Intentions appealed to me for much the same kinds of reasons.

Scary in places too, it's a story about how a couple's jealousy for each other causes them to get into scary situations. Like, the moral is that you really shouldn't be jealous, you should be grateful for the love you have.

Have I interpreted right? I kinda like it .... But then, I guess, if I was actually half of a couple right now, I'd be able to identify with it a bit more. Valentines' day tomorrow too!
