Playback Issues

Hi All,

I have just changed my stanalone dvd player to a Samsund DVD R119 recorder. I have found that quite a number of my disk (All DVD-R RiVision & Ritek Grade A Media) start to pixalate and freeze. I usually find this is somewhere about 30 - 45 Min in.

I can't believe its a bad burn or bad quality media as i would of thought this problem would of showed before now.

I find this quite strange as all disks have been used on a number of dvd players i have owned with problems. I'm currently testing 1 of the a for mentioned disk with nero speed CD-DVD and will post the results once complete.

A any thought idea on whats causing this problem would be mush appreciated.

Different DVD players will be more or less sensative to media types. Not all media is compatable with all palyers.

Have you thought of updating your Nero? If $$ are a concern (like they are for me), then I would recommend using ImgBurn to burn your DVDs. It is free.

Thanks for the replies.

First of all i was burning at 4x but i had a problem with that before and so then started burning at 2x to try and improve quality.

I have been looking at the idea of upgrading my nero but doesn't DVDdecypter have a burning function and if so is it recommended. Your have to excuse me i've been away from here awhile and so just need to catch up on the technology advances since i've been gone.

I also take your points about the version of dvd shrink i've been using and in fact i have been using 3.2.0.15 i just have updated my fotter which ill do now.


As mentioned please see the results of a typical disk test using Nero CD-DVD speed below.

Yes you can burn with DVDDecyrpter how ever make sure that you have the most updated version. Also note that it can not be updated any longer so I would recomend IMGburn, its a lot like DVDD although it cant rip its just for burning. It is Free and a great burner. If you look back at Gary's reply to you he posted a link for IMGburn.

I have now tested this and yes they play 100% if recorded in the samsung. Strange things is they don't play on my computer.

I also had a go at burning a backup of 'dirty dancing' and went over kill on it Used DVDD to decypt, DVD Shrink to create an ISO to fit onto a DVD-5, and finally burned using Imgburn as suggested at 1x. Now i have test the the disk and it does play fine in the samsung but the imgburn log did throw up a few errors. I have posted a log for all to see, whilst i was at it i did a surface scan of the disk using nero CD-DVD Speed. It did show a few minor damaged section think this was due to surface dust / bad media???

Its great the disks played but the whole process took 3 1/2 to 4 hours to complete surely thats waaaaay to long?? never had to wait that long before.

Hi All i take it all back!!! Just tried the burn again and it now freezes help please?

Gonna get some new media see if that works but not confident as i have tried this method with other problems i'eve had but i can only try!
