    ripped movie playback

I'm searching for a new dvd player for playing my ripped movies, since my toshiba player(7yrs. old) is having a hard time playing many of them. Any recommendations on a player that plays both dvd-r and dvd+r rips? Anyone have experience with the phillips DVP5140/37 DVD player? any help on the subject would be much appreciated!

I use a mid priced Sony carousel and it will play all of my backed up DVD's.

What kind of problems are you having? Could be a simple as changing the media you are using...unless of course you are looking for an excuse for a new DVD player, then I understand completely

I would try various formats, see which ones are causing the problem.
Have you tried using DVD+R media and Booktype to DVD-ROM?

loc-- I have an older toshiba player and a klh player, im getting the green pixelation on both, but not in the same place on the mive, but not on my daughters poloroid portable player, they play flawlessly, even though all rips are labeled....im using memorex dvd-r, i did a scan check and checked out the quality on the link provided in this frum, somewhere, and it says they are 2nd generation media, so i thought these dvds would be ok, am i incorrect?

All of the time I use this setting. It fools the DVD player into thinking it is a pressed DVD.

Please visit this site about media quality. BTW: Only use the top2: Verbatims or Taiyo Yudens.

Taiyo Yuden would be first. If you see any Sony 1X-8X Dvd+R 50 pack spindle Made in Japan, grab them because they are probably Taiyo Yuden. They will have the octagonal foam protector on top.

ImgBurn is fine with it's default settings but go to Tools / Settings & events to make sure you save your log because it makes it easier to help. I don't know if you have seen this link yet?

They are not logs but pictorial guides, the Dvd+R's include booktype.
