"IT WORKED!!! That's awesome. I saved the wav file separately with VirtualDubMod and it worked. Thank you for all the help."

i knew it would this time. i just finished encoding an identical file with VBR audio and used the original file as the audio source with direct show raised and it turned out perfect, like always. why it didn't work for you i can't say.
it doesn't matter though, you can do basicly the same when you come across an AC3 encoded, video file also.

      Hi!

Maybe you're using a different version of TMPGEnc?

i have experimented with several different versions and have had the same results. must be a codec/configuration issue or something....

Well it did work. Thing is, when I first started playing the synch was dead on but now it's off by about 4 seconds.

I've experienced a similar problem before. The way I got it to stay in sync was opening the video in Adobe Audition. They have a trial version. What you can do in Audition is go to File - Open Audio from Video, and select the video file. Then save the audio as a .wav, then use that file as your audio source in TMPGEnc.

That's what I did but with VirtualDubMod.

I found though that for some reason, files that I had sync problems with in VirtualDubMod worked fine in Audition.

when you made the wav file you had direct stream copy enabled under the video tab?

be sure the original file has no synch issues.
                  with virtualdubmod:

                  load the original avi:

If the difference in synch increases as the movie plays:

From under the "Video" dropdown menu, select "Framerate" - and select "Change so video and audio durations match"
under stream list DISABLE the audio, and ADD your wav file, click ok
                  Save with a new filename

Save what with a different file name? When I click save as it just wants to save the avi file. Is that what you mean?

yes. now you will have to encode this new avi with tmpgenc.

note: use this new avi file as the audio AND video input for tmpgenc, do not insert the previously created wav file as audio...

Here's some screen shots. This is what VirtualDubMod keeps saying when I load the original avi:

And this is what it says after I click yes to that:

And the audio is still way off. It is about 2 seconds ahead of the video.

Clicking yes or no has the same results.
