    Noob here, need some help

I have a video on my computer and in the properties it says it's MPEG Layer 3. I want to burn this to a DVD to watch on a DVD player, but I'm new at this stuff and want to know what I need to be able to burn it.

I did some searching on here and came up with nothing, although I'm sure it's here somewhere. I have some Nero stuff on my machine that came with the DVD burner, is it possible I already have the program I need to do this?

Thanks alot guys, this site is great!

Ok, I have NeroVision and when I open the mpeg file, which I guess it's calling MPG2, it says it's too big to fit on a standard DVD R disc. What can I do to compress it so it will fit? I tried using the Automatic Compression but it said "Undable to compress, compress Manually". Thanks again

What program did you use to create this video?
      DVDSubEdit
      ImgBurn

I'm not sure what program was used to create the file. I tried out the Nerovision thing and after waiting 3 and 1/2 hours for it to burn, there was nothing on the disc! What the heck happened? I glanced at the burner a couple times and didn't see any lights or anything flashing, but the screen said "burn process".

Ok, it's not an Mpeg file. It says "video clip" under the "Type". I think it's probably an AVI file.

To burn that to DVD you would have to conver the file to a DVD compatable format.

Or you could break up the file and burn to CD's to make a super VCD.

there's no freeware that will do this for me? I wish one of these would let you at least make one successful burn before you have to buy.

In that guide to convert there is only 1 program that you would have to pay for and you can try it for like 30 days for free.

So for the next 30 days its free.

the rest of the programs in that list are free.
