    Divx 5 pixelation..................

Hello, I am getting along pretty good, I'm using xmpeg and am getting fairly good results. My sound and video are nice and synched and my video looks really good. Then there are certain frame changes, like water or really intense colors and i am getting some blocky pixel stuff around faces and text ect......how do i get rid of this or atleast keep it to a minimum......... .................................................. TIA Coma

try increasing the bitrate, alot, or use another codec, Divx5 isn't that great, use Divx4 or XviD, they're better.

I've tried xvid and don't really care for it to me it doesn't look as good as divx 5 but thats just my POV my bitrate should be high enough 1300kbs this is nothing major just thought that there might be some small tweaks to make it look better thanx for your reply

Perhaps steakslim was referring to the versions of DivX 5 before 5.02?

I tried the first DivX 5 version and wasn't impressed by its quality (In addition to its still unresolved unauthorised playback of 3.11a). 5.02 indeed has the quality to be impressed with (finally), though I'm still somewhat in favour of using the more configurable nandub (and hence 3.11/MS MPEG4 V2).

            perhaps, perhaps not

but even dixv 5.01 was way better than divx4

sometimes ppl seem to promote an opinion only because THEY didnt manage a tool/codec properly.

divx 5.02 works like a charm!

Actually I haven't used any of the later versions of Divx5, so I have no knowledge of it's improvements since the first version. If it has actually improved as well as you say I'll look into it again.
