A Newbie in desperate need, Please...

Hello to DivXperts out there,

I am extremely inexperienced and have been trying to watch a movie that I've downloaded. I have installed the Nimo Codec pack, a whole bunch of codecs I don't even know or understand, as well as the DivX codecs and players, and the movie still won't play.

I'm running on Window XP, my Windows Media Player just shuts down when I try to open the movie in it. I can't even play the movie on the DivX player. For some reason though, it can play on my QuickTime Player (only video though, no sound).

Can anyone out there please help my stupid, incompetent self get out of this mess, pretty please?

I need to know what programs I should maybe get, or what to play the movie on at all. The movie won't run on BSPlayer either because it can't load the "bsrendv.dll". If anyone out there knows what to do, I would greatly greatly appreciate it.

Sounds like it's a Mac-format (.MOV). Load it into your Quicktime Player, select "Get Movie Properties" from the "Movie" dropdown menu and post back here the "Format" for both "Video" and "Audio"...

Here is the sound format, there were no properties in the "Annotations" field in both the sound and video tracks.

I noticed that the video format is 3ivx or something, and I think that I downloaded/installed that.

P.S. I did read those articles posted purposely for newbies and that gave me no help because I am thoroughly incompetant with these matters.. Thanks very much anyway : )

This movie was encoded with both the newest 3IVX video codec and .MP3 audio.

1) The Quicktime Player for Windows cannot handle .MP3 audiostreams as part of compressed videos.

2) If, in fact, you've properly installed the newest 3IVX codec (v.D4PR2), you should be able to both view and hear the file under Windows Media Player (preferably the older, more reliable v.6.4 [To install: From your Desktop: Start>>Run>>mplayer2.exe)

What are the requirements?
3ivx for Windows requires Windows 95, 98, 98SE, Millennium, 2000 or XP.

We recommend you to install Windows Media Player 6.4 or higher, DirectX 8 or higher and QuickTime 5 or higher. For the best performance with Windows Media Player, use version 6.4 (mplayer2.exe).

How do I install this?
Double click the installer and follow the on screen instructions.
