Show us the contents of the AVS file created by GordianKnot. It should be somewhere amongst the stored VOB files. Open it using Notepad.

Also, what bitrate and codec are you using? 2-pass or 1-pass? And what AVisynth version are you using?

Hey thank you very much guys. i got it working. i made adjustments with resolution, and audio, amoung other things. i'm not sure what i was doing wrong before. but i understand Gordion Knot much better now, thanks to your help and my trial and error.
my plan was to eventually make back-up copies putting the movies on cd-rom. preferibly, using one disc per movie. this has brought on some really REALLY basic questions i'm having....such as: when a cd refers to having a 90 minute capacity (for example), does that refer to audio? video? or either? the reason i am asking, this first movie that i ran through Gordion Knot (the Matrix, in case you're curious), was compressed to about 750MB...the idea was to put it on a 800MB cd. but when i started Nero burn program, it is saying that the avi file is exceeding the limits of the cd considerably. my assumption is that the movie is over 2 hours long, and the cd only has a 90-minute capacity. is this a correct assumption? why is Nero not allowing me to burn a 750MB movie on a 800MB disc? i fear that the answer is very basic, so i am prepared to get crushed by whomever responds.
thanks for taking the time to read this.

avi files will be burned in file mode and in that case an 750 mb file should well fit on an 800mb cd.

question is though, does your software + cd-writer handle this type of cdr?

700 is common, 800 will not be accepted by any cd-writer.

moreover you might need to adept nero in order to accept 800 mb and not set the limit to 700mb.

under file => preferences => expert..... you might need to changes the values.
