Hello and thank you in advance for taking the time to read this post.
I am using Adobe Premiere 6.5, and have installed the Pro version of divx 5.0.3 codec. I have tried using both one-pass, and then multi pass (2 times) encoding for outputting the video from premiere while keeping all of the other settings the exact same. I was under the impression that multi pass encoding is supposed to generate a smaller file size than just one pass encoding? However, I consistently get a bigger file size for a 2 pass encoded video than a one pass. (Also, to clarify, when I say I get a bigger file size than the one pass, I am referring to a video encoded with the one pass option not the intermediate .avi you get for the first pass in a multi pass operation =P ) I am trying to find out if someone can tell me the reason for this and what I am doing wrong or if my interpretation of what multi pass encoding is supposed to do is wrong.
Thanks again,
Denis
