Video from sat PVR to burn a VCD?

I've been through the newbie info and the forums, but haven't seen this covered. Forgive me if I missed it or it's a stupid question: I have a Dish Network Model 508PVR. It's similar to Tivio and stores recorded programs on the hard drive. I can output to a VCR to save, but I'd like to be able to save programs (cartoons & such for a 3yr old) to VCD to play in the the DVD player. Any advice/info or reccommended guides appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

The best way really is to have a PC with a video capture OR TV card which can aquire the video from the sat dish box. Just install one such as the ATI All in wonder radeon 9700 and plug in the analogue out to the analogue in of the card (or you can use an SVIDEO connection if you have that on your sat box) then just record it to HD in MPG then burn to VCD.

ATI software actually has settings for vcd svcd etc.

You will need plenty of diskspace though, be warned.
