YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN EFFECTS AND TWEAK UP YOUR TOOLS TO YOUR LIKIN'. ADOBE IS NOT FOR THOSE AVERAgE USERS THAT DO THA WAM-BAM THANK YOU MAM SIMPLE STUFF. ADOBE IS FOR PROFESSIONALS. THEY'RE THE INNOVATORS. THE REST FOLLOW.

When a tool is so complex that only technical genius' can use it it loses its utility because the creative genius' will use something that won't take them all day to do something they consider trivial.

no argument...Photoshop AND Premier means you have $1,000 worth of software...PhotoImpact and VS7 means I have $180 worth of software (and $820 in my pocket to buy other neat programs with)

If all software was priced at Adobe's prices I might be tempted to steal, too. I like Ulead's user friendly simplicity because I can lay the tool aside for a few months, and when I need it I can pop in and get something done without having to read a lot of help files to relearn some complex proceedure and pop out with a usable file to feed into the project I'm currently working on. I hate getting bogged down in details...but if you enjoy it, more power to you...you da man.

My toolbox is jammed with stuff to do scads of things I haven't used in months. Just for capture my box came with MovieMaker2, my DVC-150 came with MovieStar5, my DVD burner came with SonicStage, VirtualDub is freeware...VS7 is the only one I bought. I'm into a lot more than just copying VHS tapes or ripping DVD's. I'm into making animated GIF's, making jpeg's into movies, 3D, convert/crop/goo/mix/match make your own movies. All a tool is for is to perform a simple proceedure to prep a file to use in the larger scheme of things. Considering the relearning that one has to do whenever a product is upgraded, the easier it is to use the more utile it becomes.
