I was wondering if there was a way or some sort of hookup that you could use on a non-digital camera to convert it and save it to my computer for editing uses.

Dazzle
www.dazzle.com has this item that you can use to connect you non digital video camera to through your USB port. I used one until I got a firewire card.Comment

No, you can't use your USB port. I have had that dazzle dvc 80 thing for about a year. It's pretty good. Its cheap too. In terms of software, you can use just about everything. Vitrual Dub, Premiere, VideoWave, etc.Comment

If you can lay your hands on a video capture board you might save yourself some cash, cos you'll need it to buy the hard disk space you're going to want!!
Have a look for a card with a Bt848 or Bt878 chip on it (A quick check on ebay shows one for $25) . This lets you plug the composite out from your camera into the PC and use software like VirtualDub to record video.
It's not as good as having a DV cam with FireWire, but if you already have a decent camcorder, you might not want to ditch it just yet.
