In that case, you should just go on. I've installed 3.11a codec on XP machines and they're still alive and kicking, so to say.

By the way, this thread is getting really long for such a simple problem. What a tutorial thread...

Is the sound ac3 sound and do you have the ac3 soundcodec installed?

English is difficult if it is not your native tongue

'So i still don't know what you were saying
Is the audio of the movie AC3-sound ?????

(normally when you rightclick on the file and look on the details-tab; there is written something like "audio format unknown")

It had to do with older Divx versions 3.11. to the new 4.12. The 4.12 would play the video but not audio, But will play newer divx , both video and audio. Since i am running XP i would just wait for a newer setup that plays old as well as new.

                    Uhh, Larry.

Why don't you just listen to me and install 3.11a? It's not like you're downgrading your up-to-date standard, like you seem to. If you decide to just wait, it will never come. You have to do it yourself. If it still does not work, then follow Abdul's suggestion.

True i could try 3.11 and probably will in the end. But with new system and new OS. Need to learn before i burn.

You can always reinstall XP should something happen. However, I'm very very very positive and undeniably sure (Need I be better than this?) that installing 3.11 won't do any harm to your system because I've done it on XP machines before and they still work as any normally working machine does.

O.K i installed it and it works. The logo message poped up and i continued , then it asked if i wanted to overwrite a newer file but i clicked the no . It installed and it worked with the windows media player . Just being careful ,don't feel like reinstalling all the software.
