Anyone familiar with Pinnacle Studio 9?

I just made a slide and video show with Pinnacle Studio 9, but when I try to "make movie" it says I have used incorrect media. I am using sony CD-R'S,
tried a Quill CD-R and a DVD also. I tried formatting a CD, but then the error...insert a blank cd came up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It plays just fine in my saved file. I just want to save it to any kind of disc.

are you using a cd burner , or a dvd writer?

what type is the final product of pinnacle?

AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, RealVideo, or Windows Media Format?

      combo drive

I am using hp dvd writer/cd-writer combo.
I have now wasted 3 cds, 2 cdrw and a dvd...
After trying some of the disks, error is saying ...failed during burn set up.
I don't even know if these disks are now ruined or not.

I'm sorry I don't know what the final product is...I just "saved project" and I open it up from the file menu. After completing the project I just went to
make disc. Output formula video cd. Then I tried DVD just once.

you can try them later to see if they will work, you need to know what file type your putting on a disc, they are not the same...

          what do you suggest?

What format do you suggest to play in most set top dvds and computers?
It is vacation footage and I want to send it to family.

well "output formula VCD" you use the cd-r, if you go through the dvd set-up method then you use a dvd disc.

personaly, i'd use the dvd method.

so with the vcd formula you should have an ".mpg" file...

"It plays just fine in my saved file"

what is the size of this file, and have you tried burning it with say, nero seperately?

No, I haven't tried Nero seperately. At the moment (after my comuter crashed) I only have Roxio in.
If I use the DVD method, what do I save file as... mpeg or avi. size is 2175 mb.

I cannot "save as" anything but .stu or .sdv or .sdc
On the make movie tab there is an mpeg, avi, make disc or share option.
I chose make disc and tried both the vcd or dvd methods. Neither seemed to work

you should click the "help" button on the program interface and go through the basic guides to make things easier for you.

if you want to burn a dvd the files need to be mpeg-2, mpeg-1 is for VCD's.(CD-R's)

what is the saved file extension. perhaps you can save the output to your hard drive and burn with your burning software. not to cut your software but myself I don't care to much for pinnacle or roxio. I would uninstall roxio and d/l the trial version of nero. do not have roxio and nero installed on the same pc to many conflicts. d/l and install the trial version of Ulead video studio. IMO much better than pinnacle. To date I have had no problems with UVS.

                            I got it

Well, I finally got it. I dl an update, and I rendered as a mpeg then burned it.
Works great. (I also tried an AVI, but the speed was all out of sync...pics stopped long before music.)

I have Ulead DVD Movie Factory 4...it can't put the video along with the stills.
It seperates the two in the menu. I wanted them to play seemslessly.
Is the one you mentioned above better?
Well, thanks for all the help.
