Hello - I have a Toshiba SD-R2002 CD/DVD combo on my laptop that performs well in all other respects but won't read data DVDs. When subjected to a data DVD the drive simply 'kick-starts' over and over. Never an error message -or any message- until I manually eject the media... then I'm told to please put a disk in.
I'm running MS/WIN-2K Pro on a T23 IBM Thinkpad. I have a gig of RAM and the latest firmware for the drive.
Colleagues that have this same drive (and I've exchanged mine with them) read just fine. They have MS/WIN-XP.
Data DVDs I butn on my Memorex + and - RW burner fair the same.
Short of rebuilding my laptop with XP, what will help me?
All help is appreciated!
