Hi ... My post got closed by Blutach , which I don't have a problem with that if I ask something that I shouldn't of but, The reason as to why I did ask is because I got that website from this forum site , It was at the top right of the window and I was just curious if it was legal , I try to pm Blutach but because I am new it wouldn't allow this to happen , Now my question is , does this forum site support that site ? If not ? Then why was it advertise on here ? Thanks

first of all let me ask you to not take closed threads/deleted postings/unanswered pms personally

since all of us mods here are humans (we're not too sure about admin, though) we should all be entitled to make mistakes every once in a while

now mistakes can be minor or have severe impacts and in your case i hope we can agree on a minor one

all of us tend to react a little strict when it comes to *downloaded material / download sources* and we normally close threads that deal with any such questionable content

sometimes we do take the time to follow links, sometimes we know the destination and sometimes we simply forget to or didnt find the time to verify what we are dealing with

so in your case we may have closed a thread which should not have been closed - i dont know (yet) as i dont know which thread you're driving at

next time pls provide links to the closed thread and maybe even a link to the posting/page here on DDIGEST which seems to link to that very site you were talking about

we are trying to solve this issue and get back to you

from this forum site , You know the upper right corner where you have advertising ? Thats where I found it from and I notice everytime I re-visit this forum site the advertising gets change but most of the time it shows WinDVD7 , thats how I found that sharedmovies.com from , this is why I was asking about it ....

If I might add, Blu did not close the thread for anything you did or even the
link you posted, he closed it because someone got a little carried away
with discussing the legality of downloading certain videos. This is a very touchy subject as this forum does not support any illegal activities, how can we help people without a forum? If you found the link here I would assume it's legal and on the up and up. These legal discussions get a little boring week after week, year after year, and I am as guilty as anyone.

Yeah thats odd because I too can't seem to reproduce that website , So those websites that are advertise here on this forum are control or put on from this website ? I mean they aren't spyware or anything , Whatever gets advertise on this forum site are legit then , correct ? Thanks

I'm sorry jchutcheson - I was in a hurry last night and did not include the sentence that I should have - of course that being that the closure of the thread had absolutely nothing to do with you.

Your question was legit. However, at least some of the answers were not. I closed the thread to prevent any further misinformation being spread about a thorny legal issue.

Sometimes we are wrong in the info and opinions we give - we are all human after all - and usually the ramifications of this are not far reaching. The advice to "do it this way", if wrong, involves making a 30 cent coaster.

However, when it comes to complex legal issues, and advice being given from uninformed people (and that includes all of us I believe), I reckon the ramifications extend wider. "You can copy TV episodes" means advice is being given to you to break the law. This is, I am sure you'll agree, far worse than making a coaster.

Please don't take it the wrong way - I can see that you have not.

You see to me, Its all new to me , I'm starting to see this kind of stuff can become a headache for you guys/gals within dealing the issues as to what is right and wrong and those posters, I guess its going to be some time before this type of stuff gets straighten out , Thanks though for all the input I have received by all
