I just received my new camcorder and was wondering if I have to purchase special software to transfer my movies from the tape to my PC? The card works fine, but the pc don't recognize the tape .

I"m pretty sure your camcorder (if it is a mini DV) shold come with the software to upload it and convert it into DVD format or Mpeg. If you didnt get it with it I would look over your manuals and make sure you didnt get an open box with it removed. It should say software included. If not Staples or Best Buy would have the programs available. There are all kinds you will have to find one that is compatible with your specific camcorder.Chizzmo

You may want to check into the Dazzle.
I use that it hooks up to the camcorder and then to your pc usb.
You can rip the video right from the cam to your HD.
The camcordr i have is way to old to any such software so that is how I have been doing mine.Comment
