dvd backup

ok i was wondering how somone would go about making a dvd of a movie i mean like that i could play in a dvd player for a tv not for a comp.

i the movie is in avi format on my comp and i dotn have the actual dvd any more just the file.

if theres already a guide on how to do this all i need is a link

To me it seems it would just be simpler to locate your original Dvd and use Rip-it4-me or your other preferred method of backing up, rather than go through converting from .avi to a Dvd compliant format. Just my .02.
