DVD+RW drive not working at all.

Have been trying to use my drive to put some stuff onto disc but it isn't recognising any thing that i put in. that includes both blank recordable discs, rewritable discs and then discs which already have something on them. I've tried uninstalling and rebboting it but that doesn't work, and i have already checked to make sure the transfer mode is ultra dma 5. if anyone has any ideas it would be grateful. thankyou.

How long have you had it? It may be going on you.
From past expereince with a drive going out they usually start burning like crap and then dont burn at all or when they cant read anymore that may be a sign its going.

          can it read a CD?

When my last 2 burners went they couldnt burn or read a dvd but they could read and burn to CD.

before we "throw your drive in the bush" let's check "under the hood"?

what is your dvd burner, old, newer, worn out?

this will tell if software is causing your drive to choke on us?

                      download imgburn

and stick a blank in, does it see it?

if not then you might want to try this as those programs often hose a computer and keep dvd burners from working
