      Hello knightwalker

Before you jump into conversion, let me aware you that the quality of your source file is not that good, so please do not except a very high quality output!

Still as you wish to convert the file to DVD/SVCD use the following program:

      AVI2DVD: http://www.trustfm.net/divx/SoftwareAvi2Dvd.html

In this program you need to choose the encoder you want to use, I highly recommend HCEnc, this one is the best free encoder presently available. Please manually update HCEnc to ver 20, as the packed one should be ver 17. If you decide to use this program, and require any help in updating, let us know here.

You can get good tutorials here:

http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=57804 <---This is the best IMHO

A basic guide on converting your AVI/DivX/XviD video files to DVD format using Avi2Dvd

      ##################

If you are interested in paid version use ConvertXToDVD [Google for the download link please]. This comes with a price, but it is one of the best one click solution.

I repeat again "DO NOT USE NERO OR NERO VISION"

      cheers

A DVD5 can hold upto 7 hrs of video, but obviously you have to forgo the quality factor.

In this case you can use ConvertXToDVD, which will give you an one click solution and you can fit 4 files in one without going through any technical steps.

Unless you really want to mess up witth the final result of conversion. [I assume that you are in doubt of using Nero in conversion job]

Look at the address of your file very carefully, there must be something wrong. Otherwise post the complete address here.

That issue will be resolved once you have the file being accepted. Why don't you just move the file to a drive directly? And then try to input it!

Use DVD Flick-the download link is in the DVD Flick forum. It will convert your AVIs to a dvd video folder that you can then burn to a disc. I don't know if it will affect the subtitles, so you'll need to try it and see.
It's simple to use, and free too. It will not create menus, which means if you ccrete a dvd folder with multiple episodes, when you playback on your dvd player, you'll use the dvd remote's >>I button to move from one episode title to another...

i have used DVD Flick and when i goes through the steps it will tell me
                              -1 error not encoded
and that appears in the second step of the process....

I again suggest that you carefully scrutinize the filename and file path for the unacceptable characters for AVI2DVD and then use it after renaming the file. Generally first time users of AVI2DVD tend to miss even a small symbol like "." and the program rejects the file.

This is the best freebie that you may get, so I suggest that you try again after implementing my above suggestion.

If you are unsuccessful again, I shall try to help you out using the components of AVI2DVD separately so that you may encode your original file.
