audio and video not in sync with each other

whenever i try and play downloaded movies the sound is never in sync with the picture. I have a compaq pc 400mghz with intergrated sound and video. I'm guessing its time to upgrade but is there something I can do in the mean time? Thanks

Set your desktop resolution to 800x600 (or even lower at 640x480) and colour depth to 16-bit. Set your DivX filter settings down to zero (ie. Play file in WMP 6.4 -> Properties -> Advanced Tab -> Double-click on [DivX Codec] -> Set the filter slider all the way to the left). That should help you.

I'm running xp pro and windvd, so I'll play around with the settings some and see what happens. Thanks for taking the time to answer.
