    Mpeg4-DX50 HELP

I downloaded this movies but it wont play because Media player does not support it. I've got a codec for Media Player but it wont allow me to install it because im using Windows XP and everytime I try to install it, im getting errors.
I also tried using Virtual Dub but it says "It couldn't locate decompressor for DX50".

    Any help??? Thanks.

Get the divx5 codec from www.divx.com
If it still won't work, check out this thread or try playing it in the divx player that comes with the codec.

Have you installed the DivX 5 codec into your system, rather than just downloading it, along with the player?

            This is not funny!

I don't even know how to install a codec and/or which folder to put it. Can you please help me? I downloaded the player and installed it thinking I also installed the codecs.
I was probably when they taught us how to install codecs.

Ok. Download the codec installer (something.exe) and run it. As simple as that.

According to the error you got, you need to have DivX5 installed in this case. 3.11a won't help you there.

Download free DivX Software to play, convert and cast video including DivX, AVI, MKV and HEVC files up to 4K. Play AVI and convert to MP4!

khp pointed it out to you earlier.

                        Sorry for being a pain

I already downloaded the DIVXpro 5.0.2 as soon as khp told me. Here's a screengrab.

And you still can't play the file?

Can you open the decoder properties page in 'Start menu'->programs->Divx->'Divx Codec'->'Decoder configuration' ?

Just to check that your problems are not caused by the file you downloaded, try unzipping the test.zip file I have attached and play test.avi, it contains 11 seconds of black screen, encoded with divx5.0.2

Try uninstalling the divx5.0.2 codec and use the nimo codecpack to install the divx5.0.1 codec http://nimo.everwicked.com/
