    DVD Rebuilder...

Will it work with an "on the fly" decrypter like Any DVD or DVD43?

actually i have never tried it and i never would

imho it doesnt make any sense to have your dvd-rom running (stressed) for hours (which the encoding process will take) when the decryption can be done in a couple of minutes

I know DVDD is quick. I can usually rip a movie to my HD in about 5 or 10 minutes. Do you have any experience with DVDFab decrypter? If so how long should it take to get a DVD9 ripped to the HD?

i have absolutely no experience with anything apart from dvd decrypter ( and good old smartripper) because it worked flawlessly for me so far

i would not consider dvdfab decrypter to take ages, though

in the end you should simply give it a try - i will as well

the last couple of days i was to busy rebuilding my system to copy any of my dvds but i will give dvdfab a try asap - promissed ^_~

let us know of your experience meanwhile

dont worry and most of all take your time

i was too busy the last couple of days myself, testing two different athlon64 machines

maybe tonight i will have the chance to give dvdfab decypter a try

I have tried DVDFab Decrypter on three ARccOS protected region 2 discs and the rip from those could be opened up in DVD Rebuilder with no problems.

so here comes my first feedback:

used dvdfab decrypter last night to transfer the content of three dvd to hdd

                - daredevil director's cut (30 min longer and worth it)
                - leon the professional director's cut special edition (widescreen finally!)
                - attack of the killer tomatoes

all three dvd were copied flawlessly and dvd rebuilder was started with a batch conversion

daredevil was perfectly fine this morning, leon and killer tomatoes will hopefully be just as fine when ill be back home

I heard that DVD Rebuilder gives far far better results than DVD Shrink (the one I use now).
Is there perhaps a guide how we can use this program?

fully agreed (when it comes to longer titles let alone titles with extras/bonus material)

you might want to check the following pages:

                    doom9's

                    afterdawn

keep in mind, however, that using/setting up dvd rebuilder for the first time has become way less complicated compared to what it was some 6-12 month ago

this means that nowadays you have the chance to download the installer version of dvd rebuilder which already contains most of the required files (like dgmpegdec or avisynth) and which tries to make the most common settings which users had to manually type in the days when no installer version was available.

                    in other words:

                    - install encoders like cce or procoder BEFORE rebuilder
                    - download the installer version and run it
                    - if in doubt accept the default settings
                    - run rebuilder

within rebuilder all you'll have to do is:

                    - select your source path/material
                    - select the encoder you'd like to use
                    - use 1 click mode (recommended for beginners)

                    ( optionally use settings like:
                    - steal space from extras [i personally never go beyond 25%]
                    - shutdown pc after conversion
                    - or use the batch function
                    - ....)

                    - select output path
                    - start the process

you'll see that rebuilder is extremely easy to use and its results (because of using encoder - stay away from REJIG) are better when it comes to longer titles/titles with complex bonus/extra material

I will take a look at the guides and try DVD RB, cuz I always want to keep the extras (most of the time very interesting, I think)!
                      Thank you!

                        me too

i prefer procoder2 for the conversion btw, because with cce i still found slight artefacts in certain extra material (which i compressed more using steal space from extras [in addition to resizing the extras to half D1 resolution])

hc seems to work a little better (than cce) in low bitrates as well

Tried DVDFab Decrypter last night. I ripped with no problems
                          Miss Congeniality 2 Reg. 1 (8 min.)
                          Cursed Reg. 1 (7 min)
DVDFab has about the same rip speed as DVDD. I also had a chance to backup Never Say Never Reg. 1 with DVD-RB Pro. It took about 2 hrs for the encoding process. I am using the QuEnc encoder (set on slow high quality) supplied with DVD-RB Pro. Is this normal or should it encode faster?

                            encoders actually take their time

you will never finish the conversion as fast using rebuilder than using shrink, but like always: quality takes its time

2hrs for the entire dvd with a 120 min title + bonus sounds fast indeed ^_~

like i said, i converted three titles in batch mode using procoder2

                            they took 267, 195 + 267 min on a test machine with an athlon64 3000+ / 1gb ram

I just backed up the movie and menus and if I remember the time was 168 mins. I quess thats not to bad with AMD 2600+ / 1 gb ram. Thanks for all the help. BTW is the CCE encoder prog worth the money for just the movie & menus. I know you siad it was choppy in the extras but I always delete extras or burn them to a seperate disk?
