Cinema Craft or TMPGEnc?. More inside.

I'm doing some conversion from dvd to svcd and at the moment I'm testing. I've been using TMGEnc with really good results but I wonder if taking cinemacraft could be better. Please give me some advantages and disadvantages (avoiding the prize of cinemacraft). Thx in advance.

I'm just wondering why you would convert from dvd to svcd?

      price!

CCE and LSXMpeg 3.5 are the business!

      But they are so costly!

They give the best quality - but is it worth the outlay?

Using divx avi which has the same resolution in vcd can be 3 to 4 times faster than real-time to generate the mpeg file!

I hope someone release a new free encoder. It seems that many people is getting involved in svcd authoring and converting so...
TMPGEnc is really good but yes, CCE is better. Other thing is money. Is CCE worth enough?.
        Thx for replying.

          Hi,
I am in the same dilemma of Tmpgenc vs CCE 2.5.
Can you tell me specifically which one you found better and how?
I can only say that CCE takes more processing time.
          Thanks

CCE is the fastest MPEG 2 encoder around, and I think it yields higher quality than TMPG. It only takes more processing time if you use an insane amount of passes. I find that 4 pass CCE takes about the same time as 2 pass TMPG, and it is better quality.

              CCE crack

Is there anything more than 30 days for CCE ?

On CCE 2.5 encoding "speed" I have my doubts.
                I have P 4 - 1.7 / 128. HDD 40+30
It takes to process a 1 hr 30 min movie appx 14 hours with 4 PASSES and no deinterlacing. Tmpg was at lease 3 hours less than this with "best quality-slowest" option. I do not run any parallel process including Antivirus.

I tried to back up my DVD "SPARTACUS" a classic 3 hr. CCE 2.5 gave an estimate of whooping 38 hours with 4 passes.
I really wonder where am I going wrong. Is this the only way or I can back it up by chapters also?
                  Thanks

                    @KETAN
How are you setting up your encoding on that system. Everyone else has said it is the fastest MPEG 2 encoder on the planet, DOOM9 has stated this and I think he would know what he is talking about. Also, I encode a 90 minute move in less time than that using a P3 667. My framerate is 23.976, so I don't know what yours is, but trust me, when set up correctly, it's the fastest.

                      Head Hunter,
                      Thanks for replying.
My frame rate goes in decimals!!!
I have all default settings. Can you guide me what to do?
                      Thanks

By framerate I mean of the final video, like 25fps PAL or 23.976 Film or 29.970 NTSC.
My actual speed is usually .7 RT without filters.
For backing up DVD's I use DVD2SVCD. There is a great guide for using it over at Doom9.org

                          Thanks,
I have all my options as per the guide of Doom9.
Except I could not find "bitrateviewer" that shows the info as shown in doom9's guide.
At best through this I can set more options on DCT type, Field topfirst. I do not think this will change my processing time to a great extent.
I am begining to think that I should settle for Tmpg...
                          Thanks

                            hi,
                            I found the bitrateviewer.
The only setting that I had different was "Field Order" - I selected automatic where it was top first.
I will run it again and expect that it will make a difference.

How much RAM do you have in your computer? To use DVD2SVCD, the minimum recommended is 256 because AVISynth eats a lot of RAM. Using less that this may help explain why TMPG is faster, as long as you are not frameserving by AVISynth.
