MP3 nwo costs money. what about OGG?

Having just read that both encoders and decoders for MP3 will now cost money for the license. I have decided to start encoding my Divx with OGG vorbis. Right now, Gknot only handles VBR mp3 and AC3 audio. is support for other audio formats planned in the next releases?

Götz writes "The licensing terms of Thomson and the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, who are the owners of the mp3 patents, have changed. Now not only mp3 encoders but also mp3 decoders require a license. This page lists the fees -- it's $0.75 per decoder. As a consequence, Red Hat has already removed ...

i know. i use headAC3che to encode my audio. i find it sounds better, but using ogg will throw off the size calculations i think. i need to play around with it a bit before im sure, but there is no option for using ogg audio.

why would no size calculation be possible?

        make your sound FIRST.
        decide which bitrate/quality you prefer.

then you might have 90kbps (which would sound like crap when using mp3) and you simply tell GK that your soundstream is 90kbps.

When you have encoded the ogg file, simply press the 'Select' button in the audio A box in the bitrate tab, and select the ogg file.

And check 'calculate frame overhead' and '1*ac3' in the interleaving & avi-overhead box.

Me too, vorbis audio in avi files is an abonemation, and should never be used.

I don't use avi files with ogg, I just set the overhead calc, to 'calculate frame overhead' and '1*ac3' because that happens to fit the overhead in ogm files very nicely.

i tried using oggmux and the file wouldnt play in WMP 6.4. the audio would play. but the video would freeze on the first frame (i checked the source video and it worked fine.) when i try and mux ogg with nandub, it crashes. solving either of the problems will work fine for me, a file extention doesnt matter much to me

                  tried these ds filters?

Talk about the AVI file container, and the Divx/Xvid codecs that are most commonly found in AVI files
