Weird effect, what is it, and how can I fix it? (pic included)

I encoded Conair using Nandub and Divx3.11alpha and it had some weird trailing effects, not blurry pixelated squares, but you'll see in the picture.

SOmeone over at the doom9 form said it had to to with light spots in the divx codec and that there was no hack for nandub to alter that.

It sparked an idea in my head and I allowed for luma correction which just made it brighter which is fine, and there was another option that put more bits into lighter parts of the movie.

I had an instance of this trailing effect when the plane was taking off, but when I re encoded with these new settings it was gone

So I watched the movie, but it happens again at this scene

Oops, my icq number is viewable , well you can ICQ me too if you'd like

    Thanks for all the help

BTW Are those macroblocks or what?

The quality of the movie is great, there is no complaints about that,. but those blocks are bugging me. What am I doing wrong, or is there a filter I must set?

I really don't like Gordian Knot.

When I resize my movie using that slider, it has a weird size until I full screen it.

and the compat test doesn't return a value either

Any way to use Divx5 and Nandub?

well the scene does look like shit but it might have been the bitmap -> jpg conversion and it's not the right size either.

My Paint has gone FUBAR on me.

        It's those damn blocks

        /me shakes fist

I was reffering to the trailing effect.

But to properly grab a frame, from an avi file, you should use the Video->'copy source frame to clipboard' in virtualdub. This will grab the selected frame at 100% zoom.

What does that have to do with anything ?

I'am not sure I understand this that do you mean full screen in GKnot ?, just set the correct input type and aspectration, set the cropping, and GKnot will calculate correct resolutions for you. And rember to set both both H-mod and V-mod to at least 4, and preforably 16.

I've never been much in favor of the comp test myself. I just go by BPP and guts.

Encoding with divx5 in nandub ? NO.

              Well

I'll try it out with GKnot and see how I fare
              Thanks for your input.

If that's shit, then I guess Anti-Shit and the full option doesn't work too well either :-\

As I understand it, you need to be very carefull when you use the antishit feature. If you set the antishit db value too low you will get a ton of false positives, which inserts lots of key frames, which wastes valuable bitrate. And of course if you set it too high it won't detect the shit.

Well I guess I'm back on GkNot now

Things seem to look right now that i've messed with nandub a lot

                  Thanks for your input

I'm sure this will work great

                  BTW

Are there any luma corrections in GKnot?
I didn't see any, or I might have missed it
