    Smart Ripper crashes my PC...

I got a serious problem trying to rip AC3 sound from
a DVD. To begin with, if i'm using the "wonderful" VOB2Audio, an AC3 track file list is required (which is a text info file) generated by
Smart Ripper, but this program always crashes my PC every time i used it, no matter the settings. I know many people is using Smart Ripper because is more reliable, but i found more easy DVD Decrypter which doesn't have any support for AC3 ripping. I tried DVD2AVI, but the final muxing, using nandub, is always out of synch!, even when i'm following the famous interleaving AC3 options:

192 Kbps = Preload and Interleave every 80 ms (NOT "Frames")
384 Kbps = Preload and Interleave every 160 ms (NOT "Frames")
448 Kbps = Preload and Interleave every 128 ms (NOT "Frames")

even using skew correction!... and all that crap. That's the reason i wanted to use Vob2Audio, but without any other way to generate that crappy AC3 list file besides using that unstable Smart Ripper program...can i use other method or program for AC3 extraction that doesn't resets my PC?. I got Windows 2000 Pro installed and updated versions of Smart Ripper and Vob2Audio.

Use DVD Decrypter, instead of (your description) "unstable SmartRipper", to rip the DVD to your hard drive. If, for example, you do this with the "Ocean's 11" DVD, you'll see that the movie .VOBs are Vts_01_1.vob through Vts_01_7.vob. Using Notepad, simply type the following:

    I:\_Ocean11\Video_ts\Vts_01_1.vob
    I:\_Ocean11\Video_ts\Vts_01_2.vob
    I:\_Ocean11\Video_ts\Vts_01_3.vob
    I:\_Ocean11\Video_ts\Vts_01_4.vob
    I:\_Ocean11\Video_ts\Vts_01_5.vob
    I:\_Ocean11\Video_ts\Vts_01_6.vob
    I:\_Ocean11\Video_ts\Vts_01_7.vob

    and save as Ocean.lst

VOB2AUDIO should process this list without difficulty.

    Let us know of your success ;>}

SR isnt normally unstable and most important it is NOT neccesarily needed to create the LIST file.

of course the author of vob2audio and smartripper worked hand in hand when it came to list-files, but they are plain textfiles you can write yourself or have them generated by a tool named:
      vob list maker

if your system crashes due to some ripping process think of better aspi-driver or cleanup your os!

OK, i'm gonna try your suggestions...

Thanks for your suggestion Setarip, i
sure will try the notepad tip. And by the
way Uncasm, i'm gonna try VOBlistMaker too, but if you know of a better aspi-driver, keep me posted.

              It was Smart Ripper...

UncasMS...Smart Ripper always crashes my PC. I have
use it in Windows 98 and Win 2000 Pro, with 3
different ASPIs (including the Force ASPI Driver) and
the result is the same. That's why i use
DVD Decrypter: it's easy, it's fast...and never resets
              my PC....
