    Acess Violation in Virtualdub

Hi, i'm having trouble extraxcting sound of divx movies(not xvid).
It worked fine before , but after reinstalling windows i get the message "access violation" when i press the compression button in virtualdub. the movie uses the codec:divx3 fast motion. the audio is wma (divx audio) avg Bitrate 64kb/s. Perhaps i can use another prog, or am i missing a codec?????

"the audio is wma (divx audio)"

If, in fact, the audio is DivX audio, it would be listed as:

"DivX Audio Compressor" in VirtualDub's "File Information" (Available from the "File" dropdown menu) - and not "WMA". Therefore, just to be certain, do the following:

        1) Load the .AVI file into VirtualDub or NanDub

        2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

        3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

        (Edited to disable substituted "smilie")

                1) The obvious question hasn't yet been asked of you - Are you able to PLAY this .AVI successfully (with audio) from beginning to end?

"it's divx wma audio compressor audio. Divx 4"

                2) Are you saying that the video was created using the DivX v.3.11alpha codec, but the audio was created using a component of the Divx v.4 codec?

As an aside - Normally, DivX-compressed stereo would have virtually the same number of frames as the video. Yours indicates that the video contains approximately twelve times as many frames as does the audio - not impossible (makes for a smaller file) but fairly unusual...
