    5.1 Sound

I frequently rip DVD's and have a 5.1 soundcard, so now I was wandering if there exists something like a multichanel MP3 or so. Now I leave the sound alone in the AC3 format but that is quite large. There must be a smaller format, no? Is AAC the answer for my problem? and if it is, does anyone know a god prog? Thanks

        hi!

        i had the same problem
if you post your email I can mail it to you...

i made a ogg 5.1 file, but i can't play it back... what do i need to play it using powerDVD?

is there a possibility to make a divX with 5.1 sound easier (by just using 1 program? I had one DVD to Divx with 5.1 sound but i dont know the name anymore..)

        tia

ogg vorbis is not really suited for encoding multichannel sound, as it doesn offer channel coupling

try aac for this (for example in the nero tools)
