    problem with divx 5.0.3

ok i just switched to windows XP and i stall gknot .27 and divx 5.0.3.

Last night i did a 2 cd conversion set for a 1.43 GB filesize. When it was finished i looked at the file size and it was 943MB. So i reencoded and set it to 1.60 GB 2 CD conversion and it still came out at 943 MB, anyone know why it keeps doing this?

You have reached maximum quality, where the codec has determined it needs no further bits. You can improve the maximu filesize by using a higher resolution.

how did you use gk 027 with divx 5.0.3?

thats impossible since gk does not support 5.0.3

the reason why your final file is way smaller will be the usual phenomenon: saturation of the source material.

      which title was it?

i just installed Gknot and DivX 5.0.3 and used it like i normally did with DivX 5.0.2.

I have another question, can DivX 5.0.2 and 5.0.3 be installed at the same time.

gk must be using 502 in your case

it has not yet been updated and afaik 503 works differently (comp-check, passes)

you are not telling me you did run a comp-test successfully?

and how many passes did you do?

I believe 5.03 is not supported yet for Gknot.

Anyway I had the same probs with 5.03. The file sizes beeing to small (expected the filsize to be arouns 1300 mb came out around 800...
In my case it was the encoding, the first 75 minutes wher perfect, but the last 30 minutes of the movie were crap (like it was encoded with a bitrate of 100 or something. That is why the filesize was smaller then planned)

I think it is a bug in 5.03, and I also believe 5.03 can not be installed together with 5.02. I also have problems with BsPlayer playing 5.03 movies if the 5.02 codec is installed. It freezes up the movie, but sound keeps on playing.

I moved back to 5.02 (like so many ppl!), and I have no problems what so ever. It's a shame though, 'cause 5.03 had better visuals! But 4 out of 6 movies came out bad when I used 5.03...
