Big Trouble synching in AC3 5.1...please help...

Recently i ripped a movie in DivX 5.02
Pro and AC3 (5 channels, 448 Kbps) audio.
    The software i used was:
Xmpeg 4.3 (just for video stream)
    DVD Decrypter 3.0
    DVD2AVI (just for AC3 extraction)
    Nandub

    Interleaving settings i used:
"Preload" and "Interleave" to 128 ms.

But the audio stream taken from first VOB goes out of synch when muxing with video (at least 2 seconds) even when the delay is zero ms!...is that normal?

I got to use Skew correction=200 ms in Nandub, and even when it seems
in synch that AVI now, i'm beginning
to question all these AC3-Sound ripping methods that i know.
The rest of VOB files seem to be OK when muxing. My only big problem is VOB #1. I never found this issue when
    muxing 2-channels (192 Kbits/sec) AC3 audio streams...what am i doing wrong?

    - first of all 200ms are not 2 seconds delay but 0.2 seconds

    - is there a logo/intro in the beginning of the movie like warnerbro?

Mayby is better to compress the video with DVD2AVI too. In the AC3 file name, made by DVD2AVI you will find the preload in ms (mayby -80ms). For example 01 AC3 T01 3_2ch 448Kbps DELAY -80ms.ac3. The interleave of 128ms is good!

        A little misunderstanding here...

Uncasm...I know 200 ms is not 2 seconds, but
the skew correction of 200 ms was the only value
that I found in Nandub to fix that bad synching.
It got nothing to do with the 2 seconds of my
AVI file. And in response to question #2: No, there
isn't a logo/intro in the beginning of the movie like warnerbro.

Joseph...Thanks for your suggestion. I never tried
before DVD2AVI for making video extractions,
because Xmpeg is more reliable is that area for me,
but is a good idea anyway...

I know 200 ms is not 2 seconds
ok, i wanted to make sure ....

have you checked if video and ac3 have the same running time in minutes:seconds?

if an ac3 codec is installed, most player will be able to play the ac3 file - on my machines bsplayer, wmp64 or zoomplayer do.

The last couple of movies I've converted, even the the delay is noted on the ac3 file it was still out of synch. So I set the interleaving to 120ms and the delay to 200 and it worked on all of them. Hope this helps.

Uncasm...I made an unexpected discovery: the AC3 audio stream is indeed shorter than the video stream.
Audio time is 25:09 and Video time is 25:10...is that normal?

Even so, i can't understand why i finally found 200 ms like a correct value to synch that AVI using skew correction.
I read somewhere on the net that DVD2AVI has a bug in its audio decoder and with some DVDs this software can drop 2 frames behind(which explains the A/V displacement) from the first VOB during AC3 extraction, generating a delay=80 ms.

Maynard...Thanks for your tips. I have never changed before
the "standard interleaving settings" for AC3 muxing. My AVI
worked fine using interleaving to 128 ms and (by coincidence) skew correction=200 ms...by the way...have you used DVD2AVI for AC3 extraction too?

That's all I use for audio extraction. Works very well because it give you the MS delay in the file name. So it's very usefull.
