    working with DivX + AC3

    hey guys.

    ive backup up heaps of dvd's using divx 5 and ac3 sound. working out the interleave for the audio takes a while, but im wondering if theres a program somewhere that can work it out for me.

    eiher a program to look at the vob files to see what the audio delay (if any) is - or a plugin for FlaskMPEG so when i use direct stream copy for the sound, it automatically multi-plexes it with the video.

    if there's not ill just keep with my settings.

    extracting the ac3 streams with dvd2avi will provide you with information on possible delay values

    moreover, smartripper as well as dvd decrypter can tell you delays as well

      The following interleave values should be of some use to you:
      448kbps (6 ch) -> Preload: 128ms, Interleave: 128ms
      384kbps (6 ch) -> Preload: 160ms, Interleave: 160ms
      256kbps (2 ch) -> Preload: 48ms , Interleave: 48ms
      224kbps (2 ch) -> Preload: 64ms , Interleave: 64ms
      192kbps (2 ch) -> Preload: 80ms , Interleave: 80ms

        ive tried using smartripper, but it always seems to show 80ms or 0ms.

        just wondering how to get the delay information in dvd decrypter... can someone explain it?

        yeah, what i seem to do is set the interleave according to the bitrate (448Kb => 128ms and 384Kb => 160ms) and the delay i just play around with.

          dvd decrypter can create a text file by the name of:
          stream information.txt
