    This f*cking audo is desycronized!

    Hi there,

    Is there anybody who knows why the audio of my divx is only keeping the same speed of the video when I DON'T touch the navigation bar of WinMP. If I skip a few scenes it emediatly switch over to the desyncronized version of the divx...

    I don't understand how that is possible and I would like a possible answer to it. Does anybody have a idea for me?

          It's so stupid! I tried more then 1 codecs, more framerates, more then 1 bitrates, even without mp3-decodation (= PCM-sound)...

          I have a Pentium IV, 2GHz. I make from VOB's (Walking with dinosaurs) divx'es. I use FlaskMPEG to make the divx'es. And I watch the avi's on a classic Windows Mediaplayer (I believe 5 or 6).

          I feel so stupid! I tried it 30 times now and it is exactly the same all the time...

          PS1: The avi's play alright if you don't start skipping scenes while watching. Evenso, sometimes the video starts to go in higher speed then the sound after 15 minutes or so. I guess because the sound and video get a to big difference.

          PS2: The sound never starts the first few times when I start the avi. Only after repeated stopping and starting the sound is with the avi.

              sounds like you hardly have any keyframes in your avis.

              what was the max. keyframe interval you used in flask??

                  Changing the framerate is a big NO NO (guarantees synch problem). Use the framerate that corresponds to that of the DVD (i.e. PAL use 25fps & NTSC use either 29.97fps or 23.97fps).

                  As for the bitrate of the MP3, make sure you do not use any sampling rate lower than 44.1 KHz (I would actually recommend you keep it at the original 48 KHz).

                  If the resultant video still suffers from synch problem, try the following:
                  1. Load up AVI file in Virtual/nandub
                  2. Set both Video and Audio tabs to Direct Stream Copy
                  3. Under Audio, go to Interleave and input the appropriate value in the 'Delay audio track by x ms' box
                  4. Go to File -> Save as AVI and give a name to the new file

                  In the case of the audio gradually getting more and more off-synch from the video, add the following step prior to saving the file:
                  -. Under Video, go to Frame Rate and select "Change so video and audio durations match (you should see a value similar to the original frame rate).

                  One more thing that you have not told us; what video codec are you using, how many passes and such?

                      I will try your advises tonight I think. I am using the DIVX 5.0.2 and also DIVX 4. Everything looks fine, it's just so close to being finished. It's only the f*cking audio.

                              I found the problem... It was indeed the amount of key-frames. I tried a lot but it turned out that finally "every 5 frames" was the solution!
