Aigh, I realised that was the problem, but I have to HALF the resoloution to 320 width before the pixel rate becomes acceptable (~65%)

Is'nt there another way? The guide suggests 640, and it's gettin a goof pixel rate, what the hell am I doing wrong?!

increasing bitrate can only be done by going for a bigger file.

of course reducing resolution will allocate more bitrate to the remaining pixel but i'd never go much below 576 x XXX since sharpness and details decrease very much.

you will have to bump up your bitrate (as I stated before) if you haven't found anything wrong with your settings

Aigh, I understand that, but the other fella's are saying that ~100 mins should look fine on a single cd rip. If I increase the bit rate anymore the file size is gonna go up?

Yes unfortuneatly. You might as well bump it up where the end file is around 1250-1300 MB if you want to put it on 2 cd's

                    - reduce your bitrate to 576 x XXX
                    - use divx5.05 (2 passes of course)
                    - use lanczos resizer (though some would rather advice simple for one cd rips i alwys use lanczos)
                    - use some smoothing/de-noising (i prefer convolution3d)
                    - use bidirectional encoding/bframes

                    - do NOT use gmc + psychovisual enhancement

                      Do you mean resolution?

But Mark it looks like you aren't going to get the quality you want without making a 2 CD file. Sorry. Hope everything works out and that we were to of service.
