Divx 5.05 problem

i am trying to test the sofware out and (using it in virtualdub (latest version)-as of may 2003)

no matter what video i test it out on the dumb thing errors.. (file size not right..ie .. aspect ratio of the color depth..)

both are acceptable, supposedly, i tried a 800.600 and a 320.240 both 24bit colordepth... both failed.. what is up..

is it virtual dubs fault..?

ok i dont do things by script cause im not that smart.. i rely on the interfaces...

the info (as much as i can remeber since i dont have internet on my comp)

the movie is 320x240 at 29fps
and 24bit color depth

audio is mp3 96k 41khz

Im trying to just experiment and convert it to

320x240(same size) and moved the slider on multipass 1st pass to about 3560.. and then i selected multipass nth pass and left the slider..
I check marked both write the divx.log file and (cant rmeber the other file below that option but i check marked that also)

then i went to the next page of options and activated the psyc options and left it to light (left hand side )... and left all the options deactivated... and then on the next tab i deseleted any of the options...

I tried to do other files today also.. (mpegs).. some would work some would not.. i tried them in an older version of virtual dub.. and it would work more often then it would not..(if not i mean that i got the same error i described before)...

so i m starting to think that the dl codec is corrupted or the install is in someway corrupted.. or both...
