I've been doing it this way for about 20 movies now and I finally got a 5.1 sound card and I hooked it up to my 5.1 reciever and the auido is not in 5.1. The only way I've found to get it in 5.1 is to convert the .ac3 file into a dd5.1 wave using Besweet. The only problem is that the audio file very large and nothing I do can make it smaller. I posted this in a new thread and have found no answers yet. Anybody out there that can help me?

        AC3 support

I found a plugin that will allow AC3 decompression in virtualdub.
I'm running 1.5.1 and it works great.
        the plugin is attached

The Maynard, I spotted a thread a few days back that explored a similar problem. Something on the line of WinDVD uses DirectShow codec, hence only stereo and PowerDVD uses full codec - could be another app or wrong way round though. Hope this helps.
This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!

virtualdubMOD shouldnt have any problems with audio streams like mp3, ogg or ac3

give it a try - it is the better choice if you ask me

                  i disagree

I've tried virtualdubmod, and virtualdub ac3 both caused audio sync problems when encoding ac3 on my pc

                      ac3acm.zip

when i try to install this plug in (provided by a user a couple posts ahead of me), i get the warning saying that it doesnt have the windows xp digital signature or something like that. It strongly recommends me not to proceed with the installation as it may cause my system to not work properly. Will this plug in work with XP? has anyone tried it?
