XVID - crappy quality AFter 8 seconds!

    Hey

Im using a variety of programs, but ultimately, i have my VOBS ripped from the DVD and am ready to encode into XVID.

    Im using programs such as:

DVD2AVI, VirtualDub, Dr. Divx, FLask MPEG

I've tried all of them, but they all yield the same results.

The first 8-10 seconds of the movie are great. Great quality. But.. after 8 seconds, the rest of the movie is ****, complete and utter CRAp. like it came from a live realplayer stream or something.

Anyone know why? Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

    ANY help is appreciated. Thanks.

      credits start and end times

You probably set the credit start frame accidentally.

the xvid configuration screen has a credits tab which you can use to lower the bitrate of the movie at the start and/or end of the film, and hence, improve the quality of the rest of it.

i'm guessing you're using gordian gnot and you accidently clicked "set credits start" button in the preview screen.

either set the credits start to the credit start or uncheck the option in the xvid advanced options config screens. if doing 2 pass (which i recommend) make sure you do it on both.

stick with XviD, cos when set up properly there is no need to use some closed source codec like DivX
