    Improper VBR Audio Encoding

    Hi

When I open a downloaded DivX in VirtualDub, I get an error message saying that an improper VBR Audio Encoding in the source AVI has been detected. Could anyone help me fix this problem?

    Thanks

What are you trying to accomplish with this file (Why are you loading it into VirtualDub)?

Curious to know - what movie?

you can more or less ignore this *error message* unless your file has some obvious problems while playing it.

latest vd/vdmod version shpw these messages in case your audio stream is vbr, which might sometimes lead to async playback.

I have the same problem in 2 of the divx movies I downloaded.I would like to know what do i do after I load the movie in VDMod.Do i rewrite the the audio header yes or no?Also it states that it may introduce up to 14114ms of skew from the video stream. What is preload skew by the way in file info?

I'm trying to split the movie (Fight Club) in two.

I ignored the message and cut the movie in two. The first part plays O.K. The audio in the second part is out of synch, though.

              @wasert

You didn't cut the file at a key frame. Look for a guide on properly splitting files in VirtualDub on my websites on my signature.

Skew is like extra time. Try NanDub like a previously stated.

Nandub doesnt have scan errors tab.In my previous question.
                1.Do I rewrite audio header?
                2.What does rewriting header do?
                3.When improper(VBR)audio is found.
                Example:Bitrate 128.0& +/- 13.0kbps Is that info any useful?
Please answer my questions. It will better me in future encodes.

                  Converting .AVIs with VBR-MP3 Audio

Use NanDub (or VirtualDubMod) to save the audio stream as an Uncompressed PCM (WAV) file as follows:
Load your original .AVI into NanDub
Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copy"
Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"
From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Compression" - and choose "No compression(PCM)"
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save WAV" (Enter a new filename with a ".WAV" extender).Click on "OK"
Then set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
Then save the .AVI as a silent .AVI (set "Audio" to "No audio" after you've saved the WAV file).

Then close NanDub and restart it
                  Set "Audio" to "No audio"
                  Load your silent .AVI
Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
Under "Audio" click on "WAV Audio" and load your .WAV
Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"
From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Compression" and choose the appropriate .MP3 settings. Click on "OK"
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save as AVI" and save your file with a new filename.
