    VHQ Confusion

Ok, I checked out Snowbeaches guide and he stated that VHQ 1 "will always look better" and the speed of my encode is usually 15-20fps. However, it states that VHQ 4 is recommended if video quality is more important than speed. WTF? Is this some sort of strange contradiction or am I missing out something here? I can't post at doom9 cuz I gotta wait 5 days before posting(yea, it sucks, i know) so I figured I would leave this post here for you guys and see what you think. BTW, I want better quality all the time, which should I use?

UPDATE: It seems that when I use VHQ 4, my encode drops down to 1-3 fps! on my Oced 2.6c@3.3. I would assume this mode obviously gives better results

      alucard83,

I do not think you should be using VHQ at all at such a high bitrate. It might do more harm than good to your quality.

in addition to not using it for bitrates that high, i dont understand, whyyou have only 1-3fps

        any other filters you're using?

of course vhq slows down encoding speed but it never did that much for me.

I only checked the "Use Chromo Motion" which assists in better motion detection of colors, which is slower by about 10%. However, I tested with VHQ 4 and the difference is very subtle, but, I can live without it. I'm testing w/o VHQ as Enchanter suggested...

No difference noticed w/o vhq enabled. Probably there is, but not from what I see.

I have noticed hardly, if any, difference either...
