    Video freezes sound continues

I was trying to convert my xvid file from .avi to mpeg but i realized the video has a problem in that the video freezes sometimes, yet the sound continues....anyone have ideas on how to correct such?? Thanks.

(I'm assuming that you have an ACTUAL Xvid codec installed - not merely the FFDShow filter)

    1) Load the Xvid file into the most recent version of either VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod

    2) Set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copy"

    3) Select "Check for errors"

    4) Select "Mask bad frames"

    5) Save with a new filename

WITHOUT an installed xvid codec and with ffdshow ONLY the conversion wouldnt be starting at all.

        To UncasMS

The poster stated, "...but i realized the video has a problem in that the video freezes sometimes, yet the sound continues."

I am interpreting that to be a reference to the Xvid-compressed video, while you are apparently interpreting it to be a reference to the already-converted MPEG...

          nope

i thought the xvid file didnt run properly

no matter if that file is ok or corrupt, no conversion would start with ffdshow installed only.

"where do u go to Select 'Check for errors'"

"Video" dropdown menu, "Scan video stream for errors"...
