    Converting AC3 to wav

I have a little problem, when I ripped a Movie using Flask I accidentialy clicked Direct Stream Copy on the audio options.
Now I have an .avi with no sound and an .AC3 file.
How can I merge the two files or convert the AC3 file to wav.
    Thx for any help.

How's about a ac3 to wav converter (sometimes the answer is so obvious that you overlook it)

There a several available, but a suggestion i once got was the PX3converter and this does the job very well.

I didn't quite understood the other part of the problem, but if your avi file has ac3 sound you will need the ac3 codec installed to hear the sound.

To transform your AC3 to wav or MP3 go have a look at :
digital, digest, dvd, divx, dvdr, dvd+r, dvd-r, rip, copy, ripping, convert, backup, back, up, shrink, xvid, software, download, news, guide, article

Then you can use VirtualDub to mix audio and video

px3's converter does NOT handle surround good at all!

i tested to a certain degree and my fir5st choice is vob2audio to extract soundstreams from vob to wav/mp3 or ac3.

for conversion from ac3 to mp3 better use azid!

Never ever argue with the masters

But it is nice to see that there is a choice.

trust your hears not our words and judge for yourself.

            i did long before

and by the way: those two pieces of advice do not exclude each other.

i.e. for 'simple' stereo the converter is fine

if you have more than two speakers, however, listen to what the px3 convertor will make out of it and compare that wav to a wav made the way i describe in my guide (via vob2audio + enhancing the sound via wavelab) and you should hear the difference with surround effects!

and i doubt anyone would consider azid a bad choice.
one can hardly find a better tool for true surround and normalized downmix!
the only question is: are you willing to go the hard way or the simple.
