XviD Problem in Virtual Dub....

Ok, I have a .avi video here, and I attempted to use Virtual Dub to convert it to XviD, and Virtual Dub has never had an error, in the entire time I have used it.

Anyways, everything was going fine until it got to 24% and it said this to me:

Error Decompressing Frame 4882:

An unknown error ocurred (may be corrupt data).

(error code -100)

Now, I tried this twice, and same thing both times. The error suggest that the data could be corrupt, but it dosn't make any sense because for one, The .AVI works fine, and I compiled it like two days ago... so I don't know how it got corrupted.

What can I do?

1) Load the original .AVI file into the most recent version of either VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod

2) Set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copy"

3) Select "Check for errors"

4) Select "Mask bad frames"

5) Save with a new filename

I did it sorta that way, I changed the error mode to "Conceal the errors"

Man, it came out like crap, not only that, but the audio was way off.

I'm done I guess....

I'll just have to keep my huge 423 mb file.

I don´t know what avifile you have there but since it is
423mb I guess its divx or a sort of mpeg 4 code maybe also an
aviwrapped DV code.

you might give "video fixer" "avifix" or "DivFix" a try to repair the
bad frame(s).

all are on the softwaresection of this SITE
I know that you said that you are done. but bad frames may happen to you more often than you think. I guess you just were
lucky up to now.
