"INTERLACED" What is the best option?

All know that interlaced material it's a little complicated, i read a lot of posts here but I still not have clear How to do?
After we've got the dvd2avi project and we already decided what to do with the information dvd2avi provide us. Suppose we already know that it is a really interlaced source.

That people who are experts (not me obviously ).
What is the best option to get a good picture when we have interlaced material, using virtualdub, using gordianknot.
I have to use some filter?, What it is the best filter that give the best quality deinterlacing?
And the last question, what I have to do when DVD2AVI change fast between Interlaced/Progressive (29.970 fps). I leave Field Options set to none, I do Force film, if i set none i have to perform IVTC later on gknot and then Deinterlace.

I had the same problem myself, trying to find the best way to deinterlace a movie...

well heres wat u should do:
Use forced film setting in DVD2AVI, if that doesn't fully inverse telecine the movie, use inverse telecine methods such as decomb in avisynth, inverse telecine(3:2 pulldown), TMPGEnc inverse telecine etc, AND finally if either of those doesn't work, use a deinterace filter that blends the fields together.

In general,
forced film > inverse telecine > deinterlace

For inverse telecine, i would recommend avisynth and use the decomb filter {Telecide() and Decimate(cycle=5)}.
For deinterlacing... u could try smart deinterlace filter in virtualdub

Well thanks to all for the help. I think this is going to be difficult.
I only use gordianknot after using flaskmpeg in the begining.

I have to use avisynth alone, i mean, not with gknot; and where I find the decomb filter you say?.
In vdub I have to use the deinterlace filter after encoding it?

U dont have to use avisynth alone, avisynth is kinda like a frame server, so u can go dvd2avi --> avisynth --> gknot

If u use gknot to encode, u wont need virtualdub.

if u use forced film, and it works, dont do anything else
if u use avisynth with decomb filter, DONT use forced film and u shouldn't need to use a deinterlace filter.

o yeah, forgot to mention dont resize before doing inverse telecine

u can also find the decomb filter at http://www.avisynth.org/~warpenterprises/ and other stuff u'll need such as mpeg2dec3.dll for opening dvd2avi with avisynth

Ok. I'm understanding now.

So, I have a 29.970 interlaced movie that i want to rip.
Working on Gknot, DVD2AVI< the field operation set to none because it is a interlaced sh*t.

If I use avisynth with the decomb filter you said, it's not necessary to use a deinterlace filter, but it's necessary to do IVTC.

Well I think I got it, the only part I'am missing is, how to use avisynth on gknot?, I know this program works with avisynth.
I am not sure how to load the filters to the avisynth project.

I've downloaded Gknot and i see what it does now
its more like a project wizard...

ok, to inverse telecine in Gknot, do what u would normally do, except after when u have created a dvd2avi project:

1.created a new file called something.avs anywhere.

2.open something.avs in notepad, add this(including the quotes, and u'll need to enter FULL path):
LoadPlugin("c:\your_dec_path\MPEG2Dec3.dll")
LoadPlugin("c:\your_decomb_path\Decomb.dll")
mpeg2source("c:\your_dvd2avi_project\something.d2v ")
Telecide()
Decimate(cycle=5)

3.save it, and now in Gknot when u click on the open button on the bottom, instead of opening the d2v project file, open the something.avs file.

Then u can continue the process in Gknot.
Also it might be a good idea to use the mpeg2dec3.dll for Gknot in the options tab

Oopps!
The gknot gives me an error when I try to open the avs file.
It says something about the mpeg2dec3.dll, says it is not an avisynth 1.0 plugin I can't read it well.

I still having the problem when opening in gknot

I got the error anyway, but after installing the last avisynth it seems that gknot let me encode. I'm going to try.
But I think the error don't have to appear
