need some help for the mpeg v1,2,3 codec pls...

Hello... hmm i just have a simple question to ask... hope someone here can help me Pls do reply... i've been kinda worried..

The thing is, i just went to uninstall & re-install my WMP9 & i impulsively went into my Control Panel, Multimedia & went to Remove the drivers for the MS Mpeg v1 & v2 codecs...

Hmm, coz the reason why i did it was because after i re-formatted my pc i had only WMP 6.4 that was pre-installed. Then i went to install the WMP8 codec package from the MS site... & i could use programs like VirtualDub or TMPGEnc to encode files to avi with the original MS Mpegv1&2 codecs...

Then after that i upgraded to wmp9 but i could use the codecs still... Now after uninstalling the player & removing the codecs try as i might i can't get the codecs to be installed anymore. I reinstalled the MS codec pack but they don't show up in virtualdub..

There is one other ver. of the mpeg v1,2,3 codec with vki available... i believe that is the hacked ver. Could i just install that? I just need some reassurance that installing that would be absolutely fine & i would be able to encode with those codecs again... Or i should install the one that can be found in the Nimo codec pack? I have 5.0 Build 8... are they the same?

Btw, do u guys have any idea where could the problem lie when any file be it Mp3 or MPEG when played in WMP9 the sound skips & jerks rather terribly when i'm let's say surfing the web... just doing normal surfing. I only have my antivirus on... there's just my antivirus & volume control in my taskbar... But if i play a Realmedia video or audio file it's totally fine? That's why i couldn't stand it anymore so i tried to reinstall the player but it's still like that... what could be wrong? Thanks! Hope my problem can be solved here

Don't mind me for sounding harsh... a perfect example of people who upgraded to WMP 9 and regretted. WMP 9 was never meant to be uninstalled once installed. The only way out of your predicament is to reformat your computer again. Now you've learnt your lesson and I hope this serves as a warning to people out there who wish to use this UPS (Useless-Piece of-Software) from MS.

If there's anyone else out there with a better idea, do contribute.

          Hi...

u know, abt the sound skipping problem actually it doesn't only happen when i use WMP9... I mean, when i use ANY other player like B's Player, Winamp, the sound will still jerk whenever i am loading a webpage or clicking on a link etc... only Realplayer doesn't have this problem.

I think it could be a mpeg decoder or codec problem in my pc? But which one is it i have no idea Everything seems fine in my Device Manager... Reformatting my pc is out of the question ah~ i've already done it a few times... It's just a few mths ago when i haven't reformatted my pc WMP9 didn't have this problem at all... Can anyone else who has experienced this problem b4 help me? Or if u know where the problem lies? Thanks...
