    Encoding Guides

I would like to share my website with all of You. LINK DIED It is based on putting divx video on PocketPCs. But have other Step by Step guides for Ripping DVDs ect. I have tried to make it as simple as possible, using pictures for each step. If you have any questions or comments post back here or fill free to email me, Thanks.

resizing to 320 x XXX, nearest neighbor
      audio: 11,025HZ,Mono

      you're kidding?

      +++++++++++++++++++++

sorry, didnt read the part on PDA

maybe you should make sure to point this out more visibly?

what you describe in your guide might be confused with *proper* avi creation

yep I jumped too over the PDA aspect and it was very confusing!
I have a question: don't you think it would be interesting to perform a 2-pass processing for such a compression?

          What about video for Palm?
          Anyone managed to do that?
If yes, what programs/settings did you use?
I tried FireViewer's fire converter with a clip produced in virtualdub (180x180 uncompressed video, uncompressed PCM audio), but i got no audio on the palm (palm os 5)...

Kinoma producer/player seems to be the answer
Kinoma producer can convert avi's up to 480x320 and 30fps; but it doesn't accept mpeg4 encoded video (tried so far with uncompressed RGB and Indeo)

Sorry for the misunderstanding Guys. I thought I made it clear on my front page that the guides were for PPC. But I changed the Header now to say BigDs PocketPC Video Guides. And as for as the Palm goes, I hear they make good organizers lol,Just,Joking.

regarding multimedia, yes, they're far behind
mine is primary a GPS unit (iQue) with intergrated mp3 support, but if it can play movies too, why not? Just fed Kinoma producer with a {cinepak video and APCM audio} avi, seems to work ok, i could fit a full lenghth movie with horrible quality on a 256MB SD-card... just for the sake of it

Ok, just figured out how to use divx video stream directly with Kinoma Producer
Kinoma relies on Quicktime for playback/decoding
To playback divix in Quicktime, you need to install the 3vix codec
Still Quicktime woun't decode mp3 audio correctly
So you need kinoma producer + Qucktime +3vix codec + Avi file with divx video and ADPCM audio

I guess noone is intrested in this right now, but this might fit a search someday (my search regarding this returned nothing usefull)

What exactly would be the process.

I've been mudding around with Kinoma2 for quite sime time. I've used ashampoo shrink and burn to take the video size down. I'm trying to see if I can get finding nemo onto a 256mb card.

my post dates since before kinoma producer 2 was released...

i'm still using the previous version, and am happy with it as i can make videos to play full screen 320x480
settings: fps, bitrate, resolution (have to rotate video before feeding it to kinoma to get full screen on the pda) and audio stream settings: type, frequency, compression.

                      Working...
